Friends of Cromwell Valley Park

The Friends of Cromwell Valley Park is a volunteer non-profit corporation whose mission is to mobilize the citizens and resources of Baltimore County to (1) preserve, protect and maintain the natural environment of Cromwell Valley Park and the surrounding area, and to (2) promote to all people the preservation of historical sites and the overall rural integrity of the land in and around Cromwell Valley Park.

Friends of Cromwell Valley Park (FVCP), originally named “Campaign to Save the Valley,” was founded in 1986 to work to save Cromwell Valley from residential development and preserve it in its natural state for the enjoyment of present and future generations. After the Campaign’s goal was achieved and Cromwell Valley Park was established, the name of the organization was changed in 1995 to Friends of Cromwell Valley Park.

For the next several years, the Friends worked with Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks (DR&P) to provide for the welfare of the park and to assist the park staff with activity programming. In 2004, the Friends took on a more active role in the strategic planning of the future use of park facilities. Over the next two years, FCVP members were responsible for having the Willow Grove bridge replaced, listing the county owned buildings on the Baltimore County Landmarks list and providing the leadership in bringing together the major park users to form the new Cromwell Valley Park Council (CVPC). Currently, FCVP is working with Federal State and County organizations in a joint effort to preserve open space lands adjoining the Park.

Because of the success of the Council in promoting the day to day activities of the park, FCVP has returned to its original purpose and goal: to preserve and protect the natural environment, historical buildings and the rural integrity of Cromwell Valley Park and the surrounding area. FCVP wishes to maintain a network of devoted members whose objective is to motivate the citizens of Baltimore County to take action whenever the peace and tranquility of the Valley is threatened. The Cromwell Valley is a unique place that cannot be replaced or duplicated anywhere else, and it is important that we preserve and protect it.

Both your physical and financial support are welcomed. All donations may be made payable to FCVP and sent to:
